Skipping Class

“Untitled” by Gleah Powers

Sadness is sitting alone in a library
Thinking of everything else but the book in front of you
With a queasy stomach, I walked out hoping to find something
To find some truth that wasn’t in the book
A friend stopped me and asked where I was going
I said I wanted to read outside
I bought into my own lie and begun to do so
It was when an ant crawled across the page
And a fly whizzed by my ear
That I knew, I just knew
I wasn’t happy with my life
